Blog Tour (Interview & Giveaway): Caged by J.A. Belfield

Title: Caged (Holloway Pack #3)
Author:
J.A. Belfield
Publisher: J. Taylor Publishing
Release Date: August 15, 2013

If the meek can become deadly, the strongest can be weak.

For Ethan Holloway, his mission to find a missing werewolf should be simple. Crack a few heads, bust a few chops and the solution always reveals itself. Always.

Not this time.

Ethan’s reputation precedes him, and because it does, someone is ready. Waiting. Unbeknownst to Ethan, he’s about to go down. Hard. Against a foe he never suspected and in a world he never imagined could be real.

What awaits Ethan is a fight not only for his reputation, but also his pack, his female, and his life. If he survives, damage control will become priority number one.

If he survives.

Because even Ethan’s not sure he’s strong enough to take on an entire race all by himself.

Especially one hell bent on exposing who and what he is in the name of sport.

Interview

Hi, J.A.! Thank you so much for agreeing to take some time from your busy schedule to answer some questions for us here at Bibliophilia, Please. Let’s break the ice a little before talking about Caged – what is something funny about you that only your friends know?

Hey, cheers for having me. Hmmmm, something funny about me that only my friends know … um, I sing in a high-pitched voice to my pooch, calling her by her nickname and telling her how much I love her, whilst cuddling and kissing her in between lines. Does that count? ;)

Caged is the third book in your Holloway Pack series – is it necessary to start with the first two books in the series, Darkness & Light and Blue Moon?

Story-wise, no. I tried to make each of the novel additions to the series as stand-alone as possible. The only exception is that Blue Moon is left a little open-ended, and readers will need to venture into Resonance to find complete closure for that. So, nope, readers can easily start with Caged (in fact, a couple of my Caged early readers have started there), so long as they accept it may take them a little longer to absorb all of the relationships and pack members than if they read the previous books first.

What makes your characters in your Holloway Pack series stand apart from those in other paranormal novels?

I don't try too hard.

Sounds stupid, I know. But my characters aren't formed from some cookie-cutter-type mould. Or organized into a structure to suit the storylines. Or planted into contrite situations or given convenient backgrounds to place them physically/mentally/emotionally where I need them. Each and every one of them has been allowed to evolve on their own, and their personalities to naturally blossom. For each one, I've literally just written them as they came to me, as they sounded to me, and with the 'presence' they've presented to me. The Holloway Pack is the result.

Are there any paranormal characters, stories, and/or authors that were particularly inspirational to you?

Oh, goodness, what a question. Well, whilst I do have a love of all things werewolf, that tends to spout from my personal dreams and nightmares more so than from books I've read, even though I've read other werewolf novels. However, my inspiration is mostly to do with writing, the ability to tell a complete tale that captivates the reader with enough power to keep them reading until the very end. And for that, I'm going to have to give credit to every single book out that which has taken me on that kind of journey, because they're the reason I fell in love with reading, and in time became the reason I wanted to write. So, no particular author or story, not even a particular genre—because there have been many that have wooed me over the years.

What is your favorite distraction that you indulge in whenever you are writing?

Social networking, LOL. Okay, I kid, I kid—but it is a close second after … READING, BABY!

Do you have any upcoming projects or events that we can look forward to?

Well, Unnatural (Holloway Pack #4) is written and scheduled for release in April of 2014, and the cover and blurb for that will be revealed just next month. From here onwards, I plan to add another two Holloway Pack to the series, as well as venture into YA and NA and contemporary romance, and maybe even some new PNR tales. So, lots of plans. Now I just need the time to get them all written. ;)

Thank you again for your time!

Thank you so much for having me. :D

About the Author

One day, a character and scene popped into J. A. Belfield’s head, and she started controlling the little people inside her imagination, as though she were the puppet master and they her toys. Questions arose: What would happen if …? How would they react if …? Who would they meet if …?

Before she knew it, a singular scene had become an entire movie. The characters she controlled began to hold conversations. Their actions reflected the personalities she bestowed upon them. Within no time, they had a life, a lover, a foe, family … they had Become.

One day, she wrote down her thoughts. She’s yet to stop.

J. A. Belfield lives in Solihull, England, with her husband, two children, four cats and a dog. She writes paranormal romance, with a second love for urban fantasy.

She also book blogs over at Bookaroo-Ju.
